Sometimes something comes into a launch and you’re a bit confused yet intrigued as to what it is. That’s how I usually am when a powder launch comes around that is just so amazing that it literally is flying off selves everywhere- making it even more intriguing as you NEED to get your hands on it NOW… Powders as of late have been getting a major makeover and making their way back into my makeup stash. Gone are the days of that overly matte, heavy textured, cakey feel to the face- now it is all about luminous, light enhancing, light perfecting skin- these formulas are here to enhance the complexion almost instantly. Although in my makeup stash of day to day; I do actually rotate between my trusty MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural Powder and my newest love Chanel Les Beiges Powder, I have very much been starting to reach for a product that at first I was a bit confused by. I now enter you into the new- generation of powders and bring you The Review:Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette…
I am pretty sure that Hourglass has been hands down one of the most reached for launches of products in the beauty world this year. With launch after launch of just pure amazingness-starting with the Veil Primer my love affair with HourglassI am sure is just beginning. Mid this year, Hourglass released their take on a must have complexion perfection in a powder form- bringing us the Ambient Lighting Powders– $45 USD. Flying of shelves and websites alike this launch was making everyone in the beauty world a bit cray, cray. Six Shades of beautifulness housed in a good on the go compact featuring: Dim Light-a neutral peach beige powder that helps blur imperfections and highlight a radiant complexion; Diffused Light- a warm pale yellow powder that helps conceal redness and give skin clarity- light a morning ray of sunlight to the skin; Mood Light- a sheer lavender pink powder that helps mimic the softest light on the skin giving skin a bright complexion;Radiant Light- a sunkissed golden beige powder that helps prolong a summer glow with its warmth; Etheral Light-a opalescent sheer white powder that mimics that of a moonlight glow on the skin {perfect for highlighting}; and Luminous Light- a champagne pearl powder that creates the most amazing candlelight glow on the skin. Of course when released I joined the frenzy and bought a few {radiant light, luminous light, mood light and dim light- although I wanted all 6..eeeekkk} And let me say I truly loved them, I used them to highlight and bring sheer glow onto the skin, but once something else came out –i.e: Chanel Les Beiges– I kind of forgot about my Hourglass powders.
Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago, in my email I get the email that made me swoon. Hourglass was now coming out with a Ambient Lighting Palette– $58 USD that was going to contain 2 current shades {radiant light and dim light} and 1 limited edition goodie {incandescent light}; and I knew that it was time to fall back in love with the powders all over again. Seconds later I was on the site, ordered my palette, 3 days passed and in the mailbox it came. I know what you thinking if you already have 2 of the shades why do you need the palette. Well I don’t quite have a answer for that, but I am obsessed. 3 shades all for different duties- housed in the same slim, easy to go palette. Perfect for travel and for all occasions this beauty is like no other. Dim Light– to blur imperfections and give skin that luminous effect; Radiant Light- to give you a warm sunkissed, yet not shimmery bronze effect, and the limited edition shade of Incandescent Light- a pearl colored powder that can give anyone the most beautifully highlighted cheekbones and angelic like complexion. I have been reaching for this palette literally almost every day since it dropped its way into my hands. I am not sure that anything else quite like it is even on the market at all. A subtle, highlighting but not shimmering, and un-cakey powder that is light on the skin, and beautiful on the skin. If you haven’t tried these powders yet, then it is a serious must try ASAP. With a promise to change the way that finishing powders capture, diffuse, and soften the light on the skin- I think that Hourglass might be onto something genius. So welcome the new generation of powders- A bit sheer lighting genius…
