The debate about drugstore versus high-end is always going to be a good one. Many high-end brands are bringing forth new and improved formulas, however lately the drugstore brands have been bringing it HARD to the table. Prices are perfect, formulas are very comparable to those of the high-end, and innovation is raging. Right now, dare I say it- but drugstore seems to be on the up and up as a MAJOR competitor of all high-end brands. Right now one brand seems to be topping the list of my drugstore go-to’s and let me tell you- get ready for a pretty hefty dose of Budget Beauty: e.l.f. Cosmetics…
When it comes to drugstore beauty, I have been reaching for one brand more than any other lately and let me tell you I am OBSESSED! e.l.f. Cosmetics is starting to top the list of my favorite drugstore brands. The products are of the most amazing quality, the brushes are phenomenal, and in all honesty their price point KILLS all their competition. Many products start at just $1- super score! When I head to the drugstore and cruise through the aisles it always comes down in this order: Lips, Eyes, Cheeks, and tools- all the perfect items to test if a product is really for you, especially when experimenting with new shades. So imagine my surprise when I ran across e.l.f cosmetics at my local Target and saw a HUGE and I mean HUGE array of products starting at just $1- simply amazing! Time to dive into the good stuff….
First up Brushes: Every girl needs to invest in a bit of beauty tool action. And these brushes by e.l.f. are simply amazing. The e.l.f. Essential Professional Complete Set ($12.00 USD)– contains 12 brushes that will rival those of the higher end price point. Complete with : Total Face Brush, Bronzing Brush, Foundation Brush, Concealer Brush, Blending Eye Brush, Essential Smudge Brush, Essential Defining Eye Brush, Eyeliner Brush, Smudge Eye Sponge Brush, Lip Defining Brush, Brow and Lash Comb, Brow and Eyelash Wand, this set is simply perfection for anyone who is looking at add some quality brushes to their collection, or anyone who is just starting out with makeup. My favorite is the Essential Blending Eye Brush. I have been using it daily to apply eye shadow, add a bit of highlight to the cheeks and at times to buff in concealer.
Moving on to The Face: The Mineral Blemish Kit ($8.00 USD) – hands down is becoming my go-to when in need of stopping pimples in their tracks. This blemish kit rivals that of Bare Minerals Blemish powder. It contains sulfur, tea tree and willow bark all to help get deep down into the pore and prevent any future breakouts. I am obsessed with the colorless mineral treatment and my skin is thanking me as well. The e.l.f. Studio Lotion Wipes in Vanilla & Coconut ($3.00 USD) – are a pure treat. They hydrate the skin perfectly all while giving you a light and airy scent of vanilla and coconut- reminds me of Hawaii. These are perfect for anyone on-the-go who travels and they are mess free. I love that they are hydrating, soothing and refreshing all wrapped into one. These are a massively reached for item right now as the weather in Southern California is quite wacky. One of my super favorites that I can see a love affair growing with is the e.l.f Studio Daily Moisturizing Stick ($6.00 USD) – This moisture stick is pure perfection. It is a clear gel that dries on the skin within seconds as it help add much-needed hydration and moisture. It is super light-weight and contains loads of antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients. The little twist up balm stick has made its way into my daily touch up kit in the purse as it is so multi-purposed. You can use it on the skin, to help tame flyaways in a pinch and to help block blisters or hydrate dry hands, knees and elbows. I am obsessed! Last but not least The Studio Eye Refresh ($3.00 USD) – is AH-MAZING!!! This roller ball is packed with amazingness as it helps add a cooling, and refreshing feeling to alleviate dark circles, or any puffiness. Anyone who has had a late night out or is in need of some sleep- this will be your best friend!!!
Moving to color: e.l.f. Cosmetics has a new and awesome way that you can create your own palette. Yes, you can create your own Essential Custom Palette for under $5.00 USD- score! The palette is $1.00 for mirror compact & $1.00 USD for each eyeshadow refill shade. This is one thing that other budget brand have NOT yet conquered, and with over 35 different shades to create your own custom quad I am IN LOVE! My quad right now is consisted of: Dusk– a smokey grey, Pink Ice– a pale pink that I have been using as a highlighter, Taupe– my favorite all over shade with its light opalescent shade and Sage– a light green shade that is gorgeous mixed with Dusk. And for the lips I have been using e.l.f. Cosmetics Essentials Glossy Lip Shine in Pink Kiss ($1.00 USD) – this shade is the perfect shade for all skin types and skin tones. It is just the right amount of color, and let me tell you I will be picking up more ASAP. I am loving it all!!
So there you have it- a few new beauty products that you totally MUST try next time you are out at Target and selective Walgreens and spend your dollars on. You can also find e.l.f. cosmetics online here.
