When it comes to Halloween I a notorious for never and I mean NEVER being prepared. It is almost better to say, when it comes to Halloween makeup- I am a looker and not a do-er. However this year when given the chance to link up with some of my beautiful beauty blogger gals- I knew it was time to step up my Halloween game and figure a way to make time to make it work. The beautiful and uber creative Phyrra came up with an awesome idea for everyone to cover Fairy Tales style makeup and give it your own spin. So I dug through my stash and found a way to re-create my take on Princess Jasmine from Aladdin. So…… here is a bit of whimsical take on Princess Jasmine…
First things first, I started the look with a solid base. I mean when I think about Princess Jasmine, she has some freaking AMAZING skin. So a dose of Laura Mercier Oil- Free Primer, topped with a light base of Hourglass Immaculate Foundation. Add on a bit of NARS Creamy Concealer to cover up the dark circles and a bit of Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer to cover the spots occurring right now- thanks Mother Nature.
For the eyes I tried to enhance my eye shape with a bit of MAC Smolder Kohl liner on the waterline, tight line and upper lash line. A bit of Mally Beauty Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in Caribbean Sea to the bottom lashes connecting to the top liner in a v-like formation. For the eyeshadow I kept it simple with a light wash of Milani Cosmetics Bella Eyes Shadow in Bella Sand. Add a bit of MAC #2 Lashes for a bit of a wispy lash action. Followed with a light coat of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara on the lashes. With Jasmine, I feel she has literally perfect brows, so I drew in my uneven sisters with a light swipe of Hourglass Cosmetics Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil.
For the cheeks I threw on a bit of NARS Laguna Bronzer for a tad of sculpting of the cheekbones, a light dusting of Hourglass Ambient Blush in Mood Light on the cheeks for a light color, and Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01-Golden Nude to top the cheeks and add a bit of sparkle to the face- You know me and my sparkle, ha ha ha. The lips are kept super simple with a bit of Naked Lipgloss in Naked. Jasmine never looked like she wore a ton of lip product, so I figured a light pink with a hint of ‘ your lips but better’ would look pretty simple yet chic. Easy peasy, right?
For the hair- well that was a bit of a challenge. I originally wanted a super high, genie like ponytail since Jasmine had some AMAZING hair. However, my limp hair didn’t want to cooperate, and there weren’t enough bobby pins and hairspray to make it stay high. So I took a bit of a page from my Fall Trend post and did a high ponytail, teased section and wrapped hair around each section creating a Blake Lively-esque ponytail. Voila, Princess Jamie- I mean Princess Jasmine…
So what do you all think? Princess Jasmine or a dressed up version of Jamie? What are your plans for Halloween? Comment below and let me know, how you do Halloween makeup!
