I am not one to be a fuss when it comes to nail polish. I love the names, the colors, and how beautiful nails look when there is polish on them. Hands are sometimes the first thing that people check out…. Anytime I feel a chip or five coming on-board, I am often reminded that ‘ Jamie you are a avid hand washer… so polish doesn’t say on you long except my trust Rimmel London 60 sec… HUGE SCORE…. Sometimes being on a budget doesn’t always allow me to get my nails done as often as I need to… So I have become pretty good at doing my own manicure…. Dare I admit it… DIY Manicure time… Setting the tone, throwing on some YouTube videos for viewing pleasure or some solid summer time jams to get me in the mood for coral, teal, or bright nails. So here is my Do It Yourself Manicure roster…. Bring on the final challenge for June…
Clean Nails: I tend to rely on my trust ZOYA 3-in-1 Nail Polish Remover $9.99 USD. I know it might sound a tad pricey for nail polish remover, but let me just say that this remover literally removes EVERYTHING!!! Even the most stubborn nail polishes cant compare to this nail polish remover. It is nourishing, and super cleansing… Clean Nails and ready for polish….
Soak and Scrub: I tend to fill up a small bowl with luke warm water.. soak hands for about a minute or two.. Then slap on a bit of Bath and Body Works 60 second Manicure HandScrub $12 USD, This stuff will last you forever. A dime sized amount and scrub-a- dub dub… wash hands after and voila instant hand rejuvenation.
Clean and Shape: Next step is to clean the cuticles… I use Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover $6.99 USD, take a bit around the base of the nails following the shape of the base, this gel formula helps BIG TIME to dissolve dry cuticles.. 4 minutes on, push the cuticles back and voila… wash the hands… and ready to cut, shape and buff the nails.
Shape& Buff: Using a ceramic nail file I file my nails into the shape that I tend to love. Slightly square with rounded edges… followed with a good buffing and voila… one quick swipe of nail polish remover to make sure everything is off the nails… then nails are ready for the base coat…
Lacquering up: A swipe or two of Seche Vite Base Coat , I tend to switch back and forth between that and the CND Sticky Base Coat……. Followed by one or two coats of your favorite polish… topped with a solid coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, and instant DIY Manicure accomplished….
A solid good 20 minutes of your time…. And about $ 20 dollars back into your pocket… Your pocketbook will thank you….. What are some of your favorites manicure tips?!?
