I spoke last week in the post “Get the Glow back” about a product find that was literally beyond real. The endless possibilities of what you can do with this product, and the slight fact that I am so super excited about it. The best part….. drum roll…… is that it is a drugstore budget buy and holds a whooping price tag of $2. {OHHHHH EEEEMMMMM GEEEEE… $2USD is AH-MAZING!!!} with a price tag like that how can you even pass up that deal?!? {Especially when its counterparts usually run about $16- $20 USD each}… Ladies and Gentlemen, I now introduce ELF Cosmetics Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks….
ELF Cosmetics Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks are a jumbo pencil loaded with creamy eyeshadow amazingness, they are probably the best budget product in its category with a phenomenal $2 USD price tag- won’t leave your wallet on broke status. Currently available in 10 different shades, these all-in-one eye wonders are very comparable to Clinique’s Chubby Sticksand Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Glide on Eyeshadow Pencil, however with a much, much, much affordable price tag for those that don’t wish to spend the next week on Top Ramen until payday…. There are some notable differences obviously amongst the three, but straight from the stick… these aren’t half bad for their affordability.
When it comes to drugstore makeup, I tend to find that the key word “drugstore” gets a bad rap more often than it shall. I know… I know… sometimes it is because we can’t try things before buying them; whereas with more high end products you can test drive before you buy. Let’s face it… NO ONE likes to be duped into buying something that doesn’t hold up to its promises. I too am a “I need to feel before I buy kind of girl”. However upon first test drive of the ELFCosmetics Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks, I may have let out a bit of a squeal with excitement… I picked up three shades on a recent excursion to Target. I often tend to gravitate towards very neutrals, so I picked up the champagne shimmer color French Lace, a gold-ish nude shimmer LittleMiss Thang and a trusty bronze-y chocolate brown Turkish Coffee. And I must admit… surprised by ELF Cosmetics right now….
First up, the color that comes out is phenomenal- it’s almost like a soft shimmery foiled cream {a la MAC paint pot-esque}. I tend to blend out the edges with a MAC 217 that is a perfect brush for all cream products as it blends them effortlessly erasing all harsh drawn on lines. However I also found that a great way to apply was with my fingers… Taking my fingers and swiping it across the top of the crayon and then applying with warm fingers to the eyelid… smooth, even color and great color payoff. Application compared to the others in its class was actually a huge winner. However maybe due to the fact that it was a drugstore buy – there I go again with the deeming of the drugstore buy… the color longevity didn’t really last forever. I had to ensure that I put a primer underneath for sure. But for a $2 USD price tag… I am not mad about that… A few pros and a few cons… But if you’re looking for a very affordable version to the beloved Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Sticks or Clinque Chubby Sticks… I have to say… ELF Cosmetics you hit it on the head… Job well done.
