Every once in a while a deal comes up that just has me racing to the mall. That was the case with this year and the Sephora VIB holiday sale. Twenty percent off everything in store, from skin care to palettes galore- had my name and my checkbook written all over it. So this week for your second dose of palette porn, I won’t wait any longer, I bring you Laura Mercier’s Artist Palette for Eyes- A Neutral Girl’s Dream…
Laura Mercier’s Artist Palette for Eyes, limited edition as a Sephora holiday exclusive- and holding the title in my eyes as the most needed eye shadow palette of the year. Twelve shadows with a great variety, some shimmery and some matte; but the overall texture just brilliant and buttery. A hunk of beautiful colors all housed in one sleek compact leaving you with endless options of beautiful beauty looks. Laura Mercier shadows usually run $23 a shadow, with about 0.09 oz of product; so for a whopping price of $48 USD this shadow palette is a steal with its endless mount of beauty. Let’s run through the contents:
{L-R, top} Sparkling Dew, Guava, Africa Violet, Plum Smoke, Kir Royal, Violet Ink {L- R, bottom} Vanilla Nuts, Primrose, Fresco, Bamboo, Truffle and Espresso Bean to be exact. The perfect mix of great bronzey options with a side of beautiful purple eye action {hot trend of the moment}. I usually am not a huge fan of shimmery and sparkle but something about this palette has me loving every ounce of shimmer I can get- who would have thought!
The color payoff in this palette is a hands down phenomenal winner; each shade is super rich in pigment and just beautiful on the peepers. A few of my favorite shades in the palette are: Guava– a light peach with a bit of a golden shimmer; Kir Royal- a dark aubergine with a dash of brown in it; Bamboo– a golden brown shimmer that has a pinch of champagne to it; and Truffle- a milky Swiss chocolate. All of the shades in the palette are gorgeous and each compliments one another perfectly for whatever color combination you might want.
Being that the VIB Sale has past, and the palettes are a bit hard to stumble upon – Completely SOLD OUT on Sephora.com; and that it is a limited edition palette; I have tried to come up with some great dupes:
Sparkling Dew– similar to MAC Orb; Guava– similar to a bit of L’Oreal Infallible Brilliant & blinged; African Violet– similar to that of Urban Decay Bordello; Plum Smoke– similar to LORAC Mauve; Kir Royal– similar to MAC Palace Pedigreed; Violet Ink– similar to MAC Fig 1. ; Vanilla Nuts-similar to MAC Dazzlelight; Primrose-similar to MAC Jest; Fresco– similar to MAC Soft Brown; Bamboo– similar to MAC Texture; Truffle-similar to MAC Swiss Chocolate; and Espresso Bean-similar to MAC Corduroy almost.
If you have a Sephora store close to you, I say it worth a shot running in and checking to see if they have any in stock- Mine had about 3 in stock still. They are flying off the shelves, and once they are gone- they are gone…. I foresee a ton of makeup looks coming in the near future-possible in the form of a video…hmmmmmm……
