In yesterday’s post I talked about the Best Setting Powder EVER, and today I am keeping it going with a powder roll. After a year of awesome releases from various brands, and a few new pressed powders introduced into the makeup mix- I decided that maybe it is time to bring forth a post that I’d like to call Covering the Bases: Pressed Powders…
2013 was the year of amazing beauty releases, an introduction to some new brands, and a re-vampping of some old favorites. Hourglass brought us the much coveted and beauty blogging worlds most sought after powders in the form of Ambient Lighting Powders. While CHANEL brought us a healthy glow with their Les Beiges Collection. So many powders to choose from, all with different purposes and power. Now I have never been one to be a huge powder fan, but something about the recent releases has me a powder addict more now then ever. Here are a few of my favorites that have been in serious rotation to the makeup stash.
First things first, the first powder added to my stash. An oldie, but goodie- MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural– $30 USD, has been a serious staple for years. I am probably on my sixth or seventh one of these. The coverage is super light on the skin, and lets the skin breath and be skin. This powder is uber natural on the skin, this light-weight powder is awesome. A bit of tinted moisturizer topped with a light sweeping of the Mineralized Skinfinish and skin is glowy and dewy in all the right places.
After following the hype and literally running out to buy every single one of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder – $45 USD, I have grown into a serious love affair with the shade Mood Light, this lavender pinkish shade is absolutely gorgeous on the skin. When I first got it, I was a bit scared by the color. But something about this lavender pink shade just brightens the complexion in all the right areas. Lavender shades are proven to brighten a sallow, dull complexion. A nice sweeping of this powder to set the makeup and skin is left bright and gorgeous.
Last but not least is the powder that had me obsessed before it came to the States. CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Powder– $57.50 USD, was hands down one of the most coveted launches of the year. Sheer and luminous on the skin, this powder is AH-MAZING! Seven shades of gorgeous for all skin tones, and for once the brush that comes with this little powder wonder is actually quite good. The perfect half moon shape for the easiest of contouring, and easy application all over the face. Brightens the skin, bronzers the skin, and skin just looks gorgeous and beautiful. A light dusting of this powder allows the skin to keep a healthy, year long tan without looking fake- love!
So there you have it, three perfectly pressed powders: all different shades, all different outcomes with one common purpose- beautiful, flawless skin. What is your favorite pressed powder?

It is super overwhelming. Let me know what powder you end up choosing. I will say for a bit of color the Urban Decay Naked is a good one.
