When it comes to skincare let’s be honest- I love products. My face is basically a walking guinea pig for concoctions, chemicals, and all of the things. I slightly can’t help it because I am obsessed. If it promises to give me a gorgeous glow or looking younger longer- sign me up! This year I wanted to try and use up a ton of skincare products, so my way to stay accountable is going to be monthly lists like this- so that you can see what products I am actually using the most during the month. Now don’t get me wrong, there will be other products I’ll probably also use at the same time, BUT these monthly lists will be the products that are used 90% of the time and more. So let’s get started with the first of many to come – as I share the most used products of January 2021.

First things, first let’s chat a bit about MY SKIN: You see in December of last year (although I don’t count it cause 2020) I turned 40 years old – yep officially old! and my skin while still overall combination also decided to add bit of dryness to it versus my usual combination/oily that I have known for years. So right now my skin is currently combination through and through. Oily in the t-zone by midday and a bit dry around the nose, with occasional hormonal breakout around the chin or jawline. I also have officially started to develop some fine lines and wrinkles specifically around the eyes (wear your sunglasses) and forehead. I also suffer from hyperpigmentation because let’s be honest – a pimple turns into a dark spot no matter if I pick it or not. I personally am looking to even my skin tone overall, fight any signs of aging and of course I love a good glow while staying hydrated and protected (SPF is super important).
CLEANSERS:
// MARA Beauty Algae Enzyme Cleansing Oil // Hands down OBSESSED with this cleansing oil. I love that it has enzymes in it to help brighten the skin all while removing makeup like a dream. It literally feels like luxury on the skin and I love that you can use it as both a cleansing oil (for the first cleanse) or leave it on for about 10 minutes for an enzymatic cleansing treatment. This is probably my 3rd bottle of it and honestly will not be the last. It is beautifully packaged and the product is hands down amazing.
// Good (Skin) Days A New Leaf Cream Cleanser // I never thought I would be all about a cream cleanser but this one takes the cake for me. I have already repurchased it. It feels amazing on the skin but also has a bit of a texture to it that helps gently exfoliate the skin. It’s truly one of a kind.
TONERS:
// Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Toner // I love this alcohol-free toner. Not only is it perfect for combination skin, it smells super clean and leaves skin hydrated.
MOISTURIZERS:
// Tata Harper Water Lock Moisturizer // Such a great moisturizer. Perfect for combination/oily skin as the gel like texture is hydrating but not too hydrating. The packaging is also perfect and comes with refills.
// Good (Skin) Days On The Bright Side Moisturizer // This moisturizer I am truly loving. It feels amazing on the skin and I love that it has probiotics in it.
EYE CREAM:
// Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream // I love this eye cream. I have been using it for a few years now since it first was released. It is literally the perfect daytime eye cream as it gives your eyes a dose of vitamin c and helps combat wrinkles and fine lines.
SUNSCREEN:
// IMAGE Skincare Presentation+ Daily Protection Moisturizer SPF 50 // If you want a SPF that really works – THIS IS IT! This SPF is perfect as it is SPF 50 and is broad spectrum but also helps block the blue light that we accumulate daily from cell phones and computer. ((Trust me so many products coming soon are going to focus on blue light blocking) – but I also love that this SPF can take the place of your moisturizer as well- since it is super hydrating!
ANTI-AGING PRODUCTS:
// Barefaced Toning Pads // This product is hands down a skin changer. I have been using them for the past month and half – and I really notice a HUGE difference in my skin thanks to the unique blend of salicylic acid and glycolic acid. Hands down these are amazing.
// Obaji Retivance Skin Rejuvenating Complex // I am no stranger to retinol at all, but this one is perfect for newbies as well as people who want to use retinol closer to the eyes. Since I am working on those pesky fine lines around the eye area- this product has been helping tremendously!
SERUMS:
// Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops // I am OBSESSED with these drops. They are literally instant glass skin in a bottle. They give the skin the moist perfect dewy glow ever.
// Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum // I recently ran out of my beloved PCA Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum and while I waiting for it to arrive, I remember I picked this up. I have been truly loving this serum. I love it for the daytime when I want hydration but don’t want to feel super overly hydrated. While I do love these and will prob continue to use for the daytime, my nighttime will belong to the PCA because I tend to need a bit more hydration at night for sure.
BEAUTY DEVICES:
// ZIIP Beauty Nano Current Device // If you need a beauty device that can basically be your esthetician in a device – THIS IS IT! Not only does it tone the skin, life the skin, it can also help clear the skin, stimulate and heal the skin. I am OBSESSED with this device and think it is worth every single penny. Literally will save your skin if you can’t get in for facials as much as you want to.
LIPS:
// Kiehl’s Buttermask For Lips // I absolutely LOVE this stuff. Literally its so perfect for the winter weather and helps keep lips hydrated all day long. Also comes in the perfect stick version too!
So there you have it a cumulation of items I have been using all month long. A few major wins, a loss or two- overall I am loving how my skin is feeling and honestly I feel one step closer to my goals of gorgeous glowing skin. What about you?
