A while back I professed my love for facial oils. As we are nearing the weather changes and cold weather, I have started to bring out my facial oils once again, as my skin is starting to get a bit on the dry side of things in random places. Regardless lately of how much water I drink- and trust I drink a ton {1 gallon}; I can only assume my age is what is causing my complexion to be a bit dehydrated in spots. So since the weather is aping up, I have decided it is time to ramp up my skincare stash and burst out the oils. Currently I have a solid 3 that are in current rotation and with that I bring you Skin Care Edit- Oils Edition…
Now I know what you all might be thinking- three is a bit excessive when it comes to additional skincare products. But three for me seems to be my magic number as of late. Each caters towards a different problematic area, and each has its own purpose. I promise I don’t use all three in one sitting– That would be just a oil overload. Some days the skin feels a bit dry all over, some days a bit spotty, and others normal with a nice size of t-zone dryness. So after cleansing and assessing my current daily skin feeling and needs I tend to tone and balance the skin, then follow with a souped up and oiled moisturizer. Over all dry skin days I have been reaching for an oldie but goodie; Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil-$48 USD, this oil is a multi-tasker at its best. Helps with the dehydrated skin when my face is feeling parched, works wonders on my cuticles and dry patches and even helps tame the flyaways in this new found cold windy weather we are experiencing. It also comes in the “Light” Version– $48 USD, which is a bit lighter and easier to use for day time, where I have been using the original for night more now. The best part is that it helps actually counteract the skin from producing too much oil, therefore allowing skin to get naturally balanced and even. Love!!
For spotty days or that time of the month- ladies you know our hormones, I have been reaching for my Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil– $50 USD, this has been a permanent fixture in my skincare stash as it seriously helps clear spots instantly and make things balanced. It smells AH-MAZING with its notes of rosewood and geranium and it is perfect on my combo skin when breakouts arise. Last but not least I have been reaching for Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment– $65 USD, this stuff is PHENOMENAL. It literally has helped bringing my skin back to life, helping even skin tone and increasing radiance. It has a nice light scent and can be used all over body and hair- love that! Dilo oil is a rare oil from Fiji that actually helps nourish, hydrate, and firm the skin. Super rich in natural lipids this oil literally boosts the moisture in skin within moments. I absolutely love this stuff. A great drugstore budget buy I have been using on and off for a while is the Boots Botanics Organic Facial Oil– $8.99 USD, OMG this stuff is so good. All organic, non greasy and literally the smell reminds me of the Lotus Oil Treatment. I picked this up on a whim last summer when I was on a mini vacay and have been reaching for it often as it locks in moisture quick. I mean 2 drops after serum, pre moisturizer and boom- skin is dewy and hydrated. Perfect for those overly cold winter nights when my skin is tight and dry. This stuff will make miracles happen- literally.
So there you have a heavier dose of hydration needed for the wacky weather changes- dry patches and spot be gone. Whether the skin is parched, spotty or just a normal to oily mess; there is an oil for everyone. A drop or two warmed up between fingers and pressed into the skin post serum, and pre-moisturizing and voila instant supple skin upon waking up. Radiant and hydrated skin- it’s time to get oily!!!
