So lately I have become overly obsessed with eye brows. I know, I know…. ‘the eyes are the windows to the soul, and the brows are the gate keeper’ as they can just really frame someone face so perfectly. I happen to have been blessed with some serious Wolverine eyebrows that take so maintenance and care- more that I like at times– to make them not so bushy and wild. I tend to like an eyebrow a la Jennifer Lopez but lately I have seriously thinking of allowing my bushy brows to grow out and channel my inner Cara Delevingne; either way all ideas aside I think I have finally found a few great tools to give some pretty darn good brows. I know bring you the Beauty Edit: Brows, Brows, Brows…
When it comes to brows, I have always been a bit hands off. Naturally I am fond of the way that are. Nicely arched, with a bit of sass to them, and since I am naturally very dark haired I haven’t ever seen the need to darken or fill those babies in due to a former brow incident- way to dark and way too harsh on my face- nothing says hello- like a overly dark brow to draw all attention in the wrong places. However lately I have been very into the whole darkening the brows and just giving them a more polished over all look. Cause man oh man, let me tell you- an eyebrow can change your whole face instantly. With that being said- I think I have found just the perfect product to shape, shade, and make brows a shade of perfection, welcome Hourglass Cosmetics Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil-$32 USD.
Prior to finding this amazing product I was always a less is more kind of gal. When starting to experiment with eyebrows again after the former incident; I found myself flocking towards a variety of products. Rimmel London Professional Brow Pencil in Black Brown-$8 USD– proved to be a pretty darn good match but for us with a heavy hand; it is a bit too hard and harsh when applied with more than a light touch. MAC Veluxe Brow Liner in Deep Brunette– $19.50 USD- perfect but a tad too soft and creamy for my liking. MAC eyeshadows in shades- Copperplate, Embark, Brun and Handwritten– $10 USD each– make up my eyebrow pro palette in my makeup kit as each can be used for the lightest of brows to the darkest of brows. I am shade Embark and find that sometimes I am a bit too lazy on those rushed mornings to draw my brows on with a shadow and a brush, then set with my trusty Smashbox Cosmetics Brow Tech Wax-$20 USD. I have been playing around with Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow- $22 USD- which is quite a lovely product and a perfect touch up on the go; as it is a colored brow gel that enhances color as well as the look of fullness by adding fibers. However I can’t stop reaching for – Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette, it just fits all the textures- powder, wax, and pencil in one amazing applicator. Something about this pencil has me mesmerized.
Let me just say this applicator is hands down AH-MAZING. The pigment of a powder , with the staying power punch of a brow wax and all in a pencil like handy tool. One end has the ever so needed spooly and the other housed the amazingness. The texture is that of a waxy pencil almost; it is slanted so for even those with the heavy hand can sketch on beautiful, brilliant brows with a effortless application. There are 3 shade options in the collection- Blonde, Soft Brunette, and Dark Brunette. I reach for the Dark Brunette as it matches my brows almost perfectly without being detectable in color. It is super long lasting and just perfect.
I have been using this pencil for well over 2 months now and my love affair hasn’t stopped yet. I have a feeling that this is brow pencil will be in my makeup stash for quite some time now- as I am finally brow content. What are some of your favorite brow must haves? I would love to hear…
