As well all are getting older- dare I say it {cough}, we are growing more into the knowing of the age old beauty rules. You know that ones… “Only apply foundation where you need it” “Concealer is all you need on the good skin days” etc, etc…. However I think that I would like be one to is primarily good when it comes to listening to “the rules”, and so not the one to grab a blob of foundation and just apply it all over. I honestly tend to embrace the rule “less is more”. I had been walking through Ulta Beauty lately and started eye-ing the Benefit Cosmetics line. Now I am a long fan of Benefit’s great, cheeky packaging and some HG products {erase paste, high beam to name a few} so after reading some good reviews and some not so great reviews about the very much innovative Fake Up $24 USD, I was intrigued to say the least. Promising to be a bit of a hydrator, add in a pinch of sheer coverage- sounds like a lazy day splendor- what more can you ask for? I now bring you Benefit Cosmetics Fake Up….
So in order to fully embrace a concealer minded base it is always a bit easier to have the prep work complete. Great skin regime, lots of hydration, yadda yadda yadda… You know the drill- so when this concealer hit the market, I was fully interested in the whole color masked with hydration aspect to it. A bit of a two in one product as the outer layer contains hydration like a dream! The moisturizing balm is a bit of a shell around the actual color. It contains greatness like Vitamin E {helping to soothe and plump the under eye area}, Apple Seed Extract {helps to brighten dull skin} and a tinch of extra oomph by throwing in the medium like staying time {6 hours I might add} and some anti-aging/line diffusing properties. In the center of the shell is the concealing color. Richly pigmented when applied, yet dabbed into a sheer covering wonderfulness with the ring finger to blend and hide those pesky raccoon eyes.
Now I will be the first to admit I was a bit hesitant when it came to this product. Applied it felt a bit slippery, so I thought for sure it would slide right off my face. Boy was I wrong. It is sheer genius. Applied it has an instant moisturizing/cooling effect that didn’t stay slippery at all. This product is actually super hydrating- and that is what I think is keen. Many concealers are a bit too dry for the under eye area {MAC Studio Fix- I am talking to you} and they almost instantly crease without some sort of primer. However this one is brilliant- the texture, the feeling, the instant sheer, brightening coverage. However if you are looking for a bit more coverage {i.e-medium to full} than this one is NOT for you. It’s a sheer to light/medium coverage. So for the days I need more oomph to the coverage front I will be sticking with my trusty Bobbi Brown; but for those lazy days and great skin days- I think I may have just found a huge keeper. In current rotation this is a two in one-moisturizing dream summed up; equals one word– Priceless!!
