You know those moments when you sit back after looking through old picture and think to yourself ‘How the hell did I live so long without this in my life?’ After a quick stroll down memory lane, and reliving some “wow” moments in pictures- I started to feel that way about my eyebrows. From the ultra thick, dark brows in high school a la before the tweezers all the way to the whole skinny mini brows in college. Fast forward a few years and now I am into the natural arched, not too thin, not too thick brows- with a slight strive towards J.Lo brows. I now require myself to add to the daily routine a solid brow fill-in. So with an ode to the brows, I now bring you this week’s installment of Covering the Bases: Brows, Brows, Brows…
Since brows tend to be something I am on the obsessed side with lately, I have been relentlessly reaching for the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette– $32 USD, this pencil is AH-MAZING! A multi-tasking pencil all in one- a brow groomer on one side, a perfectly slanted brow pencil on the other- the finish is purely natural and AMAZING! I can’t even express my love for this pencil. Even the heavy-handed ladies can use this pencil and be in the good. Pure Love!
A newer product on the market, that I have started to fall in love with. After a bit of trial and error, I finally found the perfect way to magically sculpt the brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Dark Brown- $18 USD. This product has been my go to for a more bolder, dramatic brow. The tiniest bit of product applied with a MAC 208 brush, and voila- defined brows. Long lasting, smudge free, and packs a pigmented punch- this product rocks. Perfect for humid, vacation weather or oily skinned ladies, this product is definitely becoming a solid must have!
Moving on MUST HAVE go to for those ‘I slept a bit too long and now I am rushing’ Benefit Gimme Brow– $22 USD, this brow gel is AMAZINGNESS in a tube. The tiniest brush to help get the brows covered with just the right amount of product. Not too gloppy, not too wet, and not to light- this product is phenomenal. It has long-lasting staying power, and when you are in a serious rush- nothing compares. A quick swoop or two over the brows and instantly defined, fuller brows.
Last but not least- the first product I ever used to fill in the brows- MAC Eyeshadow in Espresso and Handwritten – $15 USD, grab a MAC 208 slanted brow brush and a MAC eye shadow does the trick. Easy to control, so if you are heavy-handed you won’t get out of control or overly done with it, but subtle to help create a nice, defined brow. Perfect for filling in the brow gaps. I have dark brows so I tend to grab Espresso for a daytime look and Handwritten for a defined night brow. However if you’re a blond-haired beauty- MAC Omega works wonders, and for the light brown girls MAC Cork or Wedge are perfect options. With MAC there is always an option for someone…. Simple, subtle and defined- Love!!
So there you have it- whether you fancy a long-lasting gel pomade or subtle eye shadow to define and sculpt the brows- brows are the kick-ass addition to adding a bit of face framing love. Are you a Cara-esque brow girl or a J.Lo brow lover?

I really need to work on my brows. I have one that has an arch and one that doesn’t. How does that even happen? LMAO.

Some good choices for brows! I have a love hate thing with my brows. I’ve got scarring in them from a childhood accident, so they don’t look the same.
Honeygirlk says
Woohoo – you got some great choices here… I am a fan of the Benefit Gimme Brow… because it is so darn easy to use. I am very hit or miss in my opinion with Anastasia brow products. I think it’s because I really just need something to hold the shape of my brows and fill in a little sparse places, my brows are full otherwise… and that is just meant for those that need to add brows – jmo… Have you tried the Cailyn Gelux Eyebrow – that is one of my favorites and I have been using it consistently the last few months and hope to have a review up on it soon. ;) I also like the Chella brow pencil – it’s just enough to add definition to my brows and fill in some sparse areas. Milani brow gel has also been a fave. Oh and Perfekt Beauty’s Brow Perfection gel is HG… it’s a bronze shade so it lightens my brows just enough to look natural. Okay – I’m done, I talk too much. lmao

I’ve heard a lot about the DipBrow, but since I’m a brow newbie, maybe I’d like the Gimme Brow better. I have pretty thick brows, anyway.

Oh man…junior high was my worst years ever for eyebrows. Thank God for Anastasia Beverly Hills. My brows would be nowhere without them!
EBBlogAshley says
I’m a brownista definitely! I won’t leave the house without my brows done because they can literally change your face. I didn’t care for the Benefit Gimme Brow as I found it was lacking in a ton of qualities BUT I do want to try the Hourglass product.
Kimmi @ The Plastic Diaries says
I’m sure i’ve said this before but your photos are just incredible. I love how you stage and style them. Beautiful!
