When it comes to skin care, of course– I am an instant addict. I’ve got my morning routine, evening routine and weekend pampers completely down. However, I am also one of those people who has a bit of pesky skin that after a while needs to change things up, so I always- and I mean always have some trusty products on hand that work for me. When it comes to maintaining beautiful, youthful skin- skin care and lifestyle are seriously the MOST important things. So I decided to pen my thoughts and share with you a few tips on Staying #ForeverYoung…
SPF: Now I am sure your mother always told you ‘Always wear sunscreen’, well as much as I would love to admit Mom was wrong, she was right. With daylight savings time in full effect and the sun setting around 5pm, as weird as it sounds, I lather on a SPF 50 every single day. Indoors or outdoors your skin needs protection against those pesky UVA rays, even when you don’t think you are being exposed to the sun- YOU ARE. Sun protection is extremely key to help maintaining youthful skin.
MOISTURIZER: Now this, my friends, is HUGE. I know, I know some of you oily skinned gals- myself included, sometimes think moisturizer can be skipped. Let me just stop you right there and say NO! You NEED moisturizer in your life, daily. Giving your skin moisture is serious business; it is literally the answer to helping fight time and aging. I don’t know about you, but I am not someone who is looking for wrinkles just yet. So a perfect moisturizer is key, and Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, is the BEST- I swear it contains super powers or something. This anti-aging moisturizer helps penetrate 10 layers of skin rapidly to help deliver it a hefty dose of anti-aging ingredients. Fine lines-goodbye! Hydration and brighter skin, hello! No wonder it is America’s #1 selling anti-aging moisturizer. I am seriously obsessed with this cream. My skin is brighter, firmer, fully hydrated and the texture is dramatically better- this is a serious beauty MUST HAVE!
WATER: This sounds pretty cliché and simply obvious, but let me just say water really is IMPORTANT! Your body is made up of over 80% water, so naturally water is one of the major things that helps keep skin and body in check. From blemishes to dry patches, water is super KEY in maintaining healthy skin. Over the years I have started to drink loads more water, and I can instantly tell a difference in my skin all over. Dark circles, gone. Blemishes, in check. Dry and flaky skin- gone. An easy tip to make sure you are properly hydrated is: Drink half your bodyweight in ounces. I promise you once you see your skin glowing and Father Time backing off, you will get past the endless bathroom trips.
GO GREEN: Now, I know the whole green juice craze is a bit well…. overwhelming. But let me just say- they are packed with LOADS of nutrients and healthy components to help fight aging. I tend to opt for a kale, pineapple and acai blend with a bit of protein powder and flaxseed and chia seeds added in for extra omegas- and let me just say, it is worth it. If you aren’t one for juicing, then try going green in smoothie form like I do, it’s filling, healthy and your skin and body will thank you!
CLEAN OUT YOUR MAKEUP: Let me just say, sometimes as much as you love that lipstick your friend bought you 5 years ago from one of MAC’s limited edition collections- you NEED and I repeat NEED to clean out your makeup. Makeup gets old and expires, as well as sometimes the key ingredients breakdown and that favorite lipstick can start to give you a rash instead. Being obsessed with all things beauty, I am often testing, trying and regularly cleaning out my makeup. KEY TIP: That little open clam-like figure on the back of beauty products with a number: it’s not just for show, that often will tell the shelf life of a product. But since not all beauty products have that figure on them, here are a few key expirations dates:
- Mascara: 3 months or sooner if it starts to get a clumpy, dry feel to it.
- Foundation & Concealer: 6-12 months, sooner if you start to see it separate or become really runny.
- Lipstick & Lipgloss: 1-2 years, sooner if you start to have a weird scent or the formula is really dry and pasty.
- Eyeshadow, Blush and Powders: 2 years, sooner if it starts to develop a film over it.
So there you have it, a bit of a lengthy post but chock-full of tips and tricks to help your skin stay hydrated, youthful, fresh and beautiful. How you do stay fresh faced and confident? I would love to hear your tips and tricks….

I used Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream for many years. In fact, I still have a couple of jars of it. It has great ingredients, and P&G spends a ton of money on R&D. Though I use other brands now too, I still love Regenerist!
