Healthy Hair Tips with Head & Shoulders

Healthy hair? So much easier said than done, until now that it is. We are chatting all about healthy hair and a few things you can do to achieve a perfect hair day…

Today’s post has been sponsored in collaboration with Head & Shoulders, as always all thoughts and opinions are my own!

When it comes to hair, you guys all know I don’t really mess around. I mean if we are being completely honest, when it comes to hair there is nothing quite like a great hair day, and of course nothing is worse than having a really bad one, right? Trust me- I have had TONS of bad hair days. I mean there was the one time I decided to spray my hair with hairspray and THEN curl it! Can you say fizzle, fried and broken hair in seconds? Seriously the aftermath was epically disastrous and of course it left me with fried, frizzy, and super unhealthy hair. After years of trial and error I finally have the perfect regimen in place that is helping me achieve healthy hair for once in my life.  Curious about how to get healthy hair? Here are a few of my favorite tips and a product that is changing my hair game.

// DON’T SKIP ON HAIRCUTS //

Y’all I can’t stress this enough. Do NOT EVER skip haircuts. Trimming your hair literally will keep it healthy and strong all while helping it grow. The more your hair tends to grow the more you’ll have to remove the dead ends that cause breakage. So, do yourself a MAJOR favor and do NOT skimp on haircuts.

// LOVE + ENHANCE WHAT YOU WERE BLESSED WITH //

Let’s be honest- when you look your best you feel your best, right? I don’t know about you- but hair for me is one of those things that add to how I feel overall. For instance, I was blessed with really and I mean REALLY curly hair that is unruly, slightly kinky, frizzy and honestly hard to manage daily for me. So, I am a big believer in enhancing your hair to suit your needs. For me and my very busy lifestyle – chemically straightened hair is what works for me. I tend to go for a easier to maintain mane that is quick and easy for me to style.  Recently I was introduced to a product that has been helping make the maintenance of my mane so much easier.  Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner has literally become my healthy hair saving grace. You see Head & Shoulders has been a massive family favorite in our household growing up. My mom grew up using it when she was littler, and she also used to use it on my sister and I. The amazing scent, the way your hair feels after- all things that I love about Head & Shoulders. Recently I was at my local Food 4 Less and grabbed a scent combo that was new to me- Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner and O-M-G you guys this dynamic duo is changing my hair. From making it healthier with each use, to cutting back on my daily styling time by taming the frizz – all while leaving my hair smooth and silky.  I am OBSESSED! Seriously your hair will thank you!

// MAKE SURE TO ALWAYS USE A CONDITIONER //

So many people often like to skimp on a conditioner, but did you know that a conditioner is imperative for heat protection- especially if you are like me and use a blow dryer & flat iron daily. I really love that the Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner makes it easy- I find that the results are better when they are used together. Together they help nourish your scalp all while leaving you with moisturized, manageable hair.  One of my favorite ways to use the Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Conditioner is by applying to my hair, leaving it on for about 5 minutes, then following with a nice cold rinse to help seal my hair cuticle and prepare it for blow drying and flat-ironing.

// TAKE A BREAK FROM HEAT SOMETIMES //

Ladies, this one might be a bit hard at times, but try to go au natural when you can. You guys know I love my blowouts and flat iron, but a few days a week I try to go heat free. Since I wash my hair once to twice a week, I try to have a great cleanse. And thanks to my Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner it helps rid my hair of all the styling gunk and natural hair oils that can tend to cause dandruff. The Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner has helped a ton to relieve any itchy scalp and buildup. I then just let my hair air dry for about 80% of the way before throwing my hair up in a top knot or a braid to dry the remaining 20% of the way. The best part- when I let it down after it has dried completely, my hair is left with pretty, beachy like waves. All in the name of healthy hair, right?

// SIT BACK AND BE PATIENT //

Most of us didn’t get unhealthy hair overnight, so you can NOT expect to achieve healthy hair overnight either.  Trust me when I say it took me YEARS to achieve healthier hair that actually wanted to grow back from that sizzle accident I had many years back. It took LOTS of patience and sticking to a routine that worked.  Trust me, slow and steady will win the race and leave you with gorgeous, healthy hair.

So ladies, there you have it-  5 simple tips to help get you healthy hair. Don’t forget to head to your local Food 4 Less and stock up on all the best Head & Shoulders goodies.
