Oh New Year’s Eve, you snuck up on us real fast didn’t you? Not only are you one of the most problematic nights of the year to plan you are also one of those days that every time you roll around, I vow to produce amazing blueprints of plans and have my outfit picked out and makeup look in mind, ready to countdown the night until a new year-new beginning- yet always slacking last minute trying to get it together, you feel me? This year is a bit different, maybe because I am getting older or something- BUT the whole night scene: dancing, singing and putting my hands around strangers as we swag back and forth singing Auld Lang Sync just doesn’t sound like my kind of thing, instead this year I am keeping things a bit low key and having a nice fancy dinner with friends, followed by great conversation and wine, of course- as we countdown with Ryan Seacrest and Carson Daly on TV. Fun right? Since New Year’s Eve this year falls on what tends to be a work day, I figured I would help out my fellow career gals and give you some simple tips on taking your NYE Ready Beauty routine from day to night in a flash…
FOR THE 9-5 WORKDAY ON NYE
If you’re like many and have to work on NYE a normal 9-5, which leaves you with very little time to head home, change clothes and get party ready- then I reckon this easy daytime look will make your life so much easier- TRUST ME! To keep things classy and not venture into the club zone for the workday, I promise a simple stay-proof base, an easy daytime smokey eye and a your lips but better lip is the way to go. For long lasting coverage and stay proof action, I have been reaching for the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. Now I have talked about my love for this foundation before HERE, but seriously I am OBSESSED! Something about perfect, long-lasting, slightly dewy skin just screams ME! I mix the foundation on the back of my hand with a dollop of the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer in both Hydrating and Smoothing. Both of these primers help prep and prime the skin to pure perfection and blend seamlessly with the foundation. Followed by a easy dusting of my favorite setting powder, a pretty flush of color with a nice powder blush, and you are face-tastic. For the eyes I grabbed my newest favorite obsession in the form of the Make Up For Ever 15 Artist Shadow Palette, for a easy daytime nude smokey eye I have been grabbing this palette NONSTOP! A little bit of shade I-522- a beautiful pinky beige all over the eye from lashline to brow bone. Followed with a bit of I-550-a gorgeous olive grey in the crease. Add a bit of I-528- a light beige, in the inner corners of the eyes, a light lining of the eyes with S-102-Onyx around the lashline to add some easy depth to the eyes, followed with 2 coats of the Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch Lengthening + Defining Mascara (which by the way is the BEST mascara EVER) and your eyes are smoked out and simple to take on the day. For the lips I kept it simple with a nice Yours Lips But Better matte cream liquid lipstick.- Voila- NYE Daytime Ready!
FOR THE AFTER WORK NYE RUSH
Since you probably rushed to get home and have 10 minutes give or take to get ready before taking on the night full force, a quick makeup refresh is in order. Since your long-lasting base is already locked and loaded and under control thanks to the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation and the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer in both Hydrating and Smoothing, a quick refreshing dust of setting powder and light misting of my favorite facial refreshing spray will do the trick to refresh your skin. Add a pretty flush of color with a nice powder blush, and you’re ready for the touch up on the eyes. To add a bit of oomph and drama to the eyes, I have been grabbing my Make Up For Ever 15 Artist Shadow Palette. A little bit of shade I-528- a light beige in the inner corners of the eyes and dash on the brow bone, followed with a mix of I-662-a beautiful amber brown on the eyelid, add a bit of D-826- a dark fig shade to the crease with a nice lining of the eyes with S-102-Onyx around the lashline to add some easy depth to the eyes, followed with 2 coats of the Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch Lengthening + Defining Mascara and your eyes are ready to hit the town for the evening. For the lips turn up the volume a bit and rock a bit of drama on the lips, I reached for my favorite red lipstick, and instantly you are ready to head out, hit the town, and countdown the New Year with friends and family, and trust me this lipstick will last long after your midnight kiss-cheeky right!
