Lately I have taken on a new eye shadow love. When it comes to adding a bit of a color to the eyes- I have really been heading towards more of a light wash of color rather than a full blown done up eye. It’s a bit of a topic I have been recently been pondering a lot lately- as the muggy weather out here in Southern California has been making me stick to the whole ‘less it more’ approach to makeup. Lets faces it no one wants humidity to ruin that perfect eye makeup, or better yet- end the day with a bit of sweated off raccoon eyes. So in a effort to beat the heat- I have been on a recent mission to find a shadow that adds a nice bit of color, has a tad of weather proofed staying power, and let’s be honest- the quickest application possibly known. So I went on a bit of a mission and with that I now bring you an oldie but goodie find- Chanel Illusion D’Ombe Long Wear Luminous Eye Shadow…
On a recent outing I wandered past the Chanel counter. Of course the beautiful classic black and white packaging, and the whole counter set up just scream timeless elegance. They had the newest product release out, and I could resist indulging in the beautiful shades before me. After swatching and testing, it resulted in picking up a new color- the Convoitise Illusion D’OmbreShadow. With a semi hefty price tag of $36 USD, it seems like a lot. But let me tell you these shadows will last forever!!!! Convoitise is a warmed up soft gold color that has a slight pearly frosted finish. It is similar to MAC Retrospeck eye shadow. The formula of these shadows is absolutely stunning. It is a cream shadow that literally feels like a fluffy gel. It is super pigmented and can be applied with either a brush or your finger. The formula of these shadows is truly a dream, and you almost have to feel them for yourself in order to grasp the amazingness of them.
I have a few other shades already in my collection. Emerville–which is a pale-like nude beige mixed with a hint of champagne that mimics MAC All that Glitters, Illusiore– a smoky like purple mauve color that reminds me of MAC Satin Taupe, and Ebloui– a dark burgundy brown with some added gold shimmer that is like a hybrid mix of MAC Cranberry and Woodwinked to me. All of these shades are seriously stunning, and I can’t believe I have been neglecting them for so long- especially with this horrendous heat wave we have going on. The staying power on these shadows is actually relatively good. I have experienced a solid 6- 8 hours of wear time with literally no creasing- and without a primer. With an overall color selection of 11 great shades, these shadows cover all color bases. Super multi- functional as you they can be applied lightly for a sheer wash of perfect color, or build to a more intense pop of color.
So there you have it…. If you are in the market for a long lasting shadow, that provides a beautiful wash of color with a ‘one and down’ minimal approach, then I highly recommend the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long WearLuminous Eye shadows. Now the problem is just deciding which shade to pick…
